pirahnahead and diviniti, these names are synonymous with quality dance music. since 2004s >find a way< they have been two of dance musics most prolific songwriters (and even co-wrote a few songs for les nubians on their 2011 full length >nu revolution<). with each release they have provided powerful production, smooth vocals, angelic harmony, and overall, musical excellence. this time, the super collaborators return to the foreground with one of the best tracks of 2011, >(just like)a dream<. as the sixth release from whasdat music, this soothing track has been supported by the likes of vinny da vinci, ian friday, paris cesvette and neil pierce as well as phil asher (who included it on soul heavens miami sampler mix). also, joining in as remixers are charles webster and jose carretas. both have previously collaborated with pirahnahead & diviniti, topping charts on traxsource.com. hailing from wellington, aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud, scent is a newcomer to the scene but long time gc of modern hypnosis. his first sighting featured a track ‘devils dread’ on indigo movement’s 5-year digital compilation december 2017. heaving at 140 beats per minute, ‘trax’ creates a certain energy similar to early jungle riddims. chopped percussion, giant synth stabs, weighty driving kicks with underlining sub bass and the odd flute build the track to a halt before commencing it’s minimal technoesq break down. ‘just a dream’ a rooted scentimental dub which takes you deep into a place amongst your rem sleep with sparse whaling strings and swinging percs. scent debut solo release. one to watch.

nigeria’s kingsley bucknor’s ‘just u and me’ lp gets the long-awaited reissue treatment from melbourne’s left ear records. after cutting his teeth playing with fela in the 70’s and releasing two afrobeat lp’s kingsley travelled the globe before finding himself in london, it’s here that he laid down 6 distinctive electro-funk tunes inspired by african rhythms and music he’d heard through his travels in the states and in europe. originally issued on kinglsley’s own kab records in ’85 and according to kingsley the release was well received at the time, but due to constraints of international marketing the record remained mostly unknown outside of his homeland. fast-forward to 2017 and the stage is set for a new global audience to appreciate the distinct sound of kb.

2012 - we are milleniumized neo, more than ever before. 1993, when techno was all over the place, german experts tommi eckart (at that time not 2raumwohnung yet) and ralf hertwig (at that time not palais schaumburg anymore) released a track, which found its way out there as a legendary underground-club classic in germany,england, benelux and france: the beat just goes straight on and on. its been sold out for years, but djs still play it in the clubs and it never lost its beat. now in 2012, almost 20 years later, the vinyl reissue being released, including the original cut and a remix by matthew styles & tobi neumann. it just goes on and on, enjoy!
